Wyse Technology Unveils Expanded Corporate Strategy to Provide New Server-Centric Solutions at Citrix iForum 2002
Expanded Company Strategy Increases Wyse's Offerings To Deliver Server-Centric Computing Solutions Beyond Thin-Client Desktops
Orlando, Fla. –
2002/10/31 -
With an expanded corporate strategy to grow the company's market position beyond desktop thin clients, Wyse Technology, Platinum sponsor of Citrix iForum 2002, will demonstrate at the show a new product and service portfolio that will establish the company as a focal point for customers who deploy server-centric computing. From the client, through the network, to the server, Wyse has the products, services and domain expertise to help global enterprises adopt server-centric computing. At Booth #27, several new products will be previewed including a forthcoming server utility that increases server capacity by as much as 35 percent, as well as a wireless thin client for roaming access to server and web-based information. Hosted by Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), Citrix iForum 2002 takes place from November 3-6 at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla.
"Customers today are looking for vendors who can address more than one element of their total IT concerns. Through our five years of market leadership, Wyse has found this to be particularly true in the server-based computing market," said George Skaff, vice president of worldwide marketing at Wyse Technology. "At iForum, we will demonstrate for the first time how we are leveraging our leadership position as the standard-bearer for desktop thin clients and expanding our product and service portfolio to address more of the server-centric environment for our customers. Through our expanded market strategy and the ongoing support of key partners such as Citrix, we will accelerate the adoption of server-based computing."
Highlighting Wyse's participation at the annual event will be a speech by Wyse's Director of Corporate Marketing David Rand on Monday, November 4, 2002 from 1:00 - 1:50 p.m., focusing on server-centric practices and "The Right Tool for the Right Job." Rand will present a collection of best practices from the server to the network to the client. Rand will also team with Jeff Skeen, CIO of Gold's Gym and a Wyse thin-client customer, to demonstrate for attendees how "Gold's Gym Muscles Up on Information Protection and Slims Down Costs with Thin Clients." This breakout session will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 from 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. as part of the "Improve Business Performance and Impact Your Bottom Line" track.
At the Wyse Technology Booth - #27
Visitors to Wyse's booth at iForum will see a number of new technologies including a way to help customers use PCs as secure and manageable clients in a Citrix® MetaFrame® environment. In addition, Wyse will preview the 9450XE. This is the most powerful and expandable thin client ever, and is ideal for healthcare, retail, government, call centers, and financial services organizations. Based on the Microsoft® Windows XP® Embedded operating system, and supporting Citrix ICA® technology, it provides the most options for customers to create solutions tailored to their specific hardware and software needs. Wyse will also be presenting Wyse's new server accelerator, which increases the number of PCs and thin clients businesses can attach to their existing servers, reduces the number of servers they have to buy and maintain, and saves customers tens of thousands of dollars. Lastly, Wyse will show a Windows® CE-based tablet thin-client that looks like a Tablet PC, but eliminates the danger of carrying locally stored information on a mobile device. The tablet thin client accesses server and web-based data through wireless local area networks through 802.11b Wi-Fi support.
"Wyse's expanded strategy to support server-based computing beyond the desktop illustrates ongoing leadership and commitment to growing the market," said David Jones, senior vice president, corporate marketing and development for Citrix. "Wyse has been one of the biggest proponents of Citrix ICA and MetaFrame. Now, by expanding beyond thin clients to offer new products and services that enhance Citrix solutions, Wyse will help fuel greater demand for server-based computing."
Members of the Press Experience Wyse First Hand
Wyse thin clients will be the desktop of choice in the pressroom at Citrix iForum 2002. As part of the Windows-based focus of the pressroom at this year's show, press attendees can access server- or web-based information, file stories online, and conduct on-the-spot research with Wyse thin clients.
Now in its fifth year, Citrix iForum is an intensive knowledge exchange that brings together Citrix customers, resellers and partners from around the world. The conference will focus on Citrix's vision of a virtual workplace that extends access to applications and information anywhere, at any time. Citrix iForum includes a variety of speakers, hands-on workshops, roundtable discussions and product demonstrations.
