Americall Group Chooses Wyse Thin Computing for Cost Reduction and Secure Information Access

Rock-Solid Security and Reliability for High-Volume Call Centers Using Thin Clients

SAN JOSE, Calif. – 2006/06/27 - Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced that Americall Group, Inc. (AGI), a major provider of outsourced contact center services, switched from PCs to Wyse thin clients for 600 desktops. Americall moved to thin clients during the consolidation of their three call centers into one supercenter to minimize disruption, reduce maintenance, and improve productivity during the transition.

The secure data center was built for Tele Service Representatives (TSRs) to connect to customer data using Wyse thin clients via two-factor authentication. Thin clients are a naturally secure method to access sensitive data as only keystrokes, mouse clicks, and screen images travel the network. Nothing is downloaded onto the desktop and no one has access to portable media for copying files.

"When we consolidated three call centers into one supercenter, we needed an acceptable technology in a lock-down state that we could manage centrally. Thin computing and Wyse thin clients proved to be a rock-solid solution that is turning a lot of heads in the company," said Mike Novak, Chief Technology Officer of Americall Group, Inc.

The desktop solution for 600 TSRs is a Web browser log-in to the Citrix Presentation Server session and access to ASD Softswitch(TM), a proprietary call-center application, and Wyse Device Manager, which centrally manages all the thin clients. "We have gone from having numerous problems everyday to weeks without an issue," said Novak.
